PLACES TO VISIT IN CHANDIGARH, INDIA.

I always wanted to spend a day or two in Chandigarh and now that I did, I can simply describe it in 3 words, clean, green and organized. Well, I’m from Delhi, so I ship clean and green places very easily and the places to visit in Chandigarh are genuinely all those things. Even, the stars in the sky seem clearer there. It’s an entrancing city where you can ride a bicycle on the clean and beautiful roads in the morning and groove in amazing restaurants at night. I was there only for one and a half days and still I explored a lot of places. Prior to that, I’d like to tell you that I stayed at hotel Pallavi west (Pallavi hotels and resorts) which was just perfect. I’ve made a separate blog about my amazing experience of staying with them which you can read later. For now, let’s talk about my experience and the places to visit in Chandigarh.

I reached Chandigarh in the morning (took a morning flight from Delhi) and after settling in my room, I had a fulfilling breakfast in bed and kick-started my day.

My first stop to explore was the famous Rock garden.
I mainly travelled there in autos and uber, ola cabs which are easily available there. All the places to visit in Chandigarh are very easily accessible by these means.
The rock garden is an epitome of creativity, consisting of various art objects and decorated with beautiful rocks. The best part is that all of the artwork has been made using urban and industrial waste. The most exciting part for me there was the waterfall. I have an obsession with waterfalls. Well, it was an artificial waterfall but still. They have really given a good thought into making it beautiful and interesting for tourists. You can just relax there and click good pictures. But the best time to visit is winters. Also, there are numerous stalls outside this garden where you can get water and light snacks. This comes under the top places to visit in Chandigarh for sure.

Next stop was Sukhna lake, which was pretty near to rock garden, so I just took an E-Rickshaw from rock garden.
This is a beautiful manmade lake which is about 3kms long and has become a major tourist place in Chandigarh. This serves as an ideal picnic spot or to take a stroll with someone and just appreciate the cool breeze and beauty of the lake. You can indulge in water activities here as well. One of the best places to visit in Chandigarh. They have different types of boats available there and furthermore a section for the kids to play.

There are a lot of eateries there too, drinks, food, snacks, ice-creams and what not.

After this, I had an incredibly scrumptious lunch at cafe falcon lounge and relaxed for some time at my hotel, played some foosball too, not to gloat but I won every time. 😛

In the evening, I went to the famous Mansa Devi Temple in Chandigarh and had the pleasure of attending the evening aarti there. It was a very relaxing and serene experience for me. This temple is quite huge and is spread across a vast land. To reach the main temple at the top, you have to climb quite a lot of stairs. There are a lot of shopkeepers selling prasad, aam papad, pickles and a lot of other things outside the temple. Another best of the tourist places in Chandigarh.

The famous and very beautiful Gurudwara Nada Sahib is just 2 km away from Mansa Devi temple, so you can take an auto from the temple and reach Gurudwara easily. I’ve always been fascinated with Gurudwaras, there’s some kind of satisfaction and harmony there that you just can’t find anywhere else. I came out of there all rejuvenated and satisfied.

Well, the only thing that was left fo me to do was shopping at that point, so I went to the largest mall in Northern India, The Elante Mall. The ambience of this mall is quite nice and lively. You can find some of the great collections of clothing here, you just can’t miss out on this place. The food court was amazing as well. But dang it, I missed getting a picture with the well-known sign that is outside the mall saying ” I LOVE CHANDIGARH ” and I sure do. <3

After spending a hectic but marvellous day at the most amazing city, I went back to my hotel and had a lovely and fancy dinner, enjoyed some cocktails and grooved to the music as I enjoyed the beautiful and cheerful ambience of their restaurant. And just like that, it was time to call it a night.

The following morning, I enjoyed the amazing and hearty breakfast buffet at my hotel and after that, I explored roads of Chandigarh on a bicycle. Trust me, there’s nothing better than riding a bicycle through some unknown roads in a foreign city. You can rent a bicycle from Chandigarh Bycycle.

As I only had one day to explore Chandigarh, I couldn’t see everything. But, you can also include the Rose garden, Open hand monument, Capitol complex, Leisure valley in your itinerary and bring out the best from your trip. 😉 I hope I helped you with enough places to visit in Chandigarh.

As for your commute, flights are available from Delhi to Chandigarh and vice-versa but also, cabs and buses are available at very affordable prices. I took a flight from Delhi to Chandigarh and came back in a Volvo bus which was very comfortable and affordable.

And for your stay, whether you’re on a business trip or a weekend getaway, hotel Pallavi west will be a perfect fit, so you might want to have a look on the link below.
